Water
Physico-chemical treatment of water focuses primarily on the separation of colloidal particles which would pass through any filter and in the precipitation of insoluble compounds through the addition of chemicals and reactants.
The chemicals used are normally acid and basis for pH adjustment to the optimal level, coagulants and flocculants which changes the physical state of the colloids allowing them to remain in an indefinitely stable form and therefore form into particles or flocs with settling properties.
The physico-chemical treatment proposed by STC are composed by the following stages:
- neutralization
- Coagulation
- flocculation
- sedimentation
- sludge filtration
